| Melody in C: Frequently overshadowed by his musical equal, Bix Beiderbecke, C-Melody saxophonist Frankie Trumbauer can rightfully be considered the grandfather of Modern Jazz. Listening to his melodic breaks and inventive phrasing one hears his influence on Lester Young and the Cool Jazz movement 25-years later. |
A two-part interview with internationally known Metalsmiths Arline Fisch and Mary Lee Hu. The work of each, though quite different in style reflects a keen interest in the use of conventional fiber techniques to construct jewelry and other objects in metal. Crissa Hewitt met with these two artists at a conference in Philadelphia for what turned out to be their first conversation together about their backgrounds and interests. Although neither has a website, a Google search for each will produce plenty of information and imagery. |
